Chapter Two:
-Peter's POV-
Peter sat up in the clouds twirling around his dagger. The lost boys had been learning from Slightly how to juggle knives. A pirate's trick, but ever since Hook had come back around him and the boys found themselves trouble. Peter knew to just turn it into a game, one big game. He had hoped that by scaring Hook and the pirates would leave them alone. That had not been the case. Just last week he staged a 'Treasure Hunt.' In the fit of a battle Peter had found himself slicing off Hook's hand. He hadn't meant to, but the next thing he knew Hook was down on the ground bellowing and hsi hand was being thrown into the water. To shake the memory out of his head he tossed his dagger up in the air again. As he went to catch it he nearly cut his hand on the blade and it slipped through his fingers. "My sword!" Peter flew down from the cloud where he had been playing as the dagger splashed into the water.
The boy looked around and down as the gold hilt disappeared into the sea. He'd have to ask one of the mermaids to look for it for him. A small bell sound jingled in his hear, "Hey Tink!" He tried to play off the incident with a smile. Tink raised her eyebrows in suspicion, but didn't ask. "Done with work for Fairy Mary?" The pixie nodded with a grin.
Tinker Bell and Peter flew over the trees of Neverland. They soon came to a large tree that had many holes in it. The two flew threw the hollow opening at the the top. There seven boys were wrestling with each other, probably over something simple. "Attention!" All seven suddenly stood in a line.
"He started it!" said Slightly, a blond kid with a fox costume on. He was pointed a fairly round boy with a brown bear costume for clothing.
"Did not."
Slightly turned around, "Oh, yeah?" He jumped up at Curly, also know as Cubby, and was soon joined by the other boy.
"Quiet you blockheads!" Peter yelled loudly. Boy his team was sure irritating sometimes. For the record he was the oldest of all the boys. Slightly was the next oldestwith being nearly three years younger, or was it four. He honestly didn't remember anymore. "I need you guys to go treasure hunting. Tink can help you guys find some lost things up at the shore."
"We going to be with the mermaids tonight Peter?" Slightly said as the twins began to jump up excitedly.
Cubby scratched his head with his large club, "Uhhhh what we need with the mermaids?" The older boy knocked him up the head and stuck his tongue out, "Ow."
"Mermaids" said one of the twins. "And treasure," the other twin continued. "And pirates?" they both questioned towards Peter. The rest of the boys looked around excitedly.
Peter scratched his head and tried to think of a way to keep the boys away from the pirates and still convince them this was all just a game. He couldn't tell them that the reason he needed to bring the mermaid lost things was because he had lost his dagger. For one thing they would all laugh at him. Another reason was that he was their leader, and if they found out he dropped it trying to do the pirate trick he'd lose part of his leadership over them. That would be bad. "It's a treasure hunt," the boys all looked at him eagerlly, boy did Peter love that, "The person who finds my favorite treasure will be the leader for a day."
"I'm going to find it!"
"Not if I find it first!"
"We'll find it, we'll find it!"
"No, I'll find," Cubby said with his club by his head.
Slightly smirked, "The only thing you might find is the end of your foot."
"I know where the end of my foot is. It's right," Cubby goes to poke his foot and rolls over backwards, "here." The other lost boys laugh at Cubby who tears up a bit but wipes his nose on his sleeve.
Peter, being a bit protective of all his team crosses his arms, "You blockheads. If you keep fighting among yourself you'll never find a lost thing in time." Tootles, the smallest of the group in a skunk costume, has already started towards the main exit. "Go on, or I'll take back the reward for myself," the lost boys looked at each other and stampeded out of the tree. Tinker Bell was sitting down close to Peter, "I handled that perfectly." The pixxie rolled her eyes and followed out to help the boys.
With that Peter headed out of the tree to go looking for some items himself. If he found the perfect object then he wouldn't have to give up his leadership even for a day. It was the matter of finding an object that was the hard part. Not that it would be too hard for someone like himself. "If I was a lost thing where would I-" Something shined near the shore line, "be."
He flew down and found a mirror, now that was something the mermaid would like. Looking at their own reflections. "Perfect." Peter grabbed mirror and flew back to the tree house, or at least he was. A flash of red on a rock caught his eye. The red blop was not near mermaid cove, but the green fish tail that went back under the water defintely proved to be a mermaid. "Why are you over there?" She was new around here, and that made Peter curious. Peter flew over to the water, but the girl he saw was gone. Maybe he was seeing things. When he got to the tree Tinker Bell was sitting there with a few of her fairy friends. The boys weren't back yet.
"Something wrong Tink?" Tink looked over worriedly and then back at the small group of fairies. Yeah, something wasn't right. The small tinker fairy came over and began to speak. Peter was the only one who could understand the tinkling bells of Tinkerbell and her friends. At least out of the lost boys and himself.
"It's the Home Tree... someone poisoned it," Silvermist, the fairy in blue said.
"Who would poison the Tree?" Peter said with his hand on his head. The other fairies looked around at each other. Tinker Bell gave a sad knowing look at Peter, "Hook."
Peter sighed and put his head back. Without his dagger he couldn't even go after Hook in order to protect his fairy friends. He didn't like being underscored for anything. Suddenly the youngest boy game in holding a red jewel. "What you find Tootles?" The boy didn't talk just blushed and brought up the jewel. "This is really fancy... you should keep it." Tootles smiled and put it over with his bedding. Peter didn't have time to wait... he needed to get his dagger back quickly. Peter preffered he hadn't dropped it in the first place. "Tink keep and eye on things, okay."
"You can count on me, Peter," Tink jingled quickly before going back to to talk with her fairy friends.
The boy flew out once more the mirror in hand. He had to get his dagger back, and save the Home Tree... save Tink. As he got to mermaid cove he noticed that none of the typical girls were there, or the red blop of hair. All he could do was sit, wait, and play his tubes.
