Episode 1
A Fateful Night
Ahhhh! Bang
I had a white shoulder bag on my shoulder as I walked through town. The shallow light barely lit up the street. That's when I heard this girl's blood curdling scream. Being how curious I happened to be, I ran toward the the alley where it came from. My eyes widen at the scene I saw that turned my from and average sophomore in high school to a hiding fugitive.
My day had started like any other day. I woke up to my alarm clock, ate a delicious breakfast, quickly got a roll, and then went to meet up with my best friend Keenan. Opening door to the outside I felt the chill of the morning hair hit my pale face. My brunette hair flowed back as I reopened my eyes. What a beautiful day it was, and like normal the sun was just rising giving a wonderful look to the sky. Making sure that I had had my backpack on comfortable I walked down the path from my house. The concrete sidewalks were cracked from over time, soon I came to a wooden door that hid a small alleyway. I unwrapped the roll and opened the door, "Keenan?"
The 16 year old boy was sitting on a sleeping bag behind a wood post it board, "I'm here."
"So... how's that hand of yours?" I said as I walked over to the orphan boy and looked at his hand.
Sliding the roll into his good hand he smirked, "Angie, my hand's a mess. So it'll be hard to hitch a car." His jet black, spiky hair was gelled into a perfect position.
"Well duh! It wouldn't have even happened if you hadn't got caught."
About a month ago Keenan had been caught by the police and was brought into a before foster home. I had to go sneak him out of the there before he did get put into a foster family! Though when I got there I found out that one of the other teens had smashed his hand with a hammer. After that... the two of barely escaped. "Anyways, I didn't say anything about even driving."
"Touche," he answered crossing his arms. "Well, get going to your boring school. I might still be here if not I'll leave a note like normal.
Giving a nod and adjusting my backpack I ran to the bus stop. The bus gave a honk and my friend waved through the window. I stepped onto the step and looked to my left where Fiona was sitting, "Hey Fiona, what's up?"
Her bleach blond hair was wavy an her eyes were almost silver. "Why hello Angelena. Pleasant day it is today," she said her voice with a ring. "Though nothing is really 'up'. Unless you count the sky and sun."
Absolutely love how she never gets the sayings. Fiona takes them literally! "Radiant Fiona. Just Radiant." Giving a laugh I sat in the seat next to hers. The bus soon gave a lurch and in about 20 mins we were at our high school.
"Well, see you later Angelena!" Fiona rang as she skipped to the lockers.
Beginning this was. A beginning of a horrible day... that would lead into so much more. I could barely concentrate during my classes today, because tonight would be the night I told Keenan something very important. By the last class I was day dreaming so much that I missed the bell ring for the end of the day.
"Miss Smith. What are you doing still sitting there? Is something wrong?"
Giving a gasp I looked over to Mrs. miller, "oh no sorry, just day dreaming."
The red haired teacher chuckled, "I understand. Well get going, and have a nice weekend!" Packing my stuff quickly I ran out of math class. The halls were clear of students, for most had already scurried out. So running was no problem. As I got to the opening gates I saw that Fiona was already waiting for me, brushing her hair.
Fiona looked over to me a and smiled, "About time Angelena!"
My excitement for tonight bubbled over and I gave a wide grin back, "Hey, guess what!?"
The bleach blond haired girl tilted her head, "What?"
"Oh how should I put this.... Well you remember Keenan right?"
"Ya of course I do. Parents were both killed when he was at the age of 10, ect. What about him?" She questioned.
"Well, you see.... I've kept in contact with him. And... I.... kinda... um," I stuttered.
"Oh goodness gracious Angelena. Even though I know who he is, he's just not for you. He's a complete bum!"
"Completely is not! As I remember he used to be your friend too!" I couldn't believe it. Fiona couldn't possibly believe that. The three of us used to hang out all the time, play on the play ground. But the two of us were upset at each other so I decided not to go on the last bus; though Fiona did. It took a lot longer to walk home, but at least I would stop by Keenan's place. I opened the wood gate to find him not there. So I looked for the note he must had left, it was on the post it board.
"Dress nice? Well, I guess it won't be too random on what I was planning on wearing,"giving a laughing sigh I drew a small star on the message. Quickly sticking the note back onto the board I ran to the back of my own house. The back window was slightly opened. So I fully opened it and threw my backpack onto my bed. With that I pulled myself in to look at the outfit I was planning. Hanging on the wall was an above knee aquamarine dress. The dress was strapless and absolutely beautiful.
Curling my light brunette hair, pinning my nags to the side, and the curled hair tided to the right I smiled. This would be absolutely amazing, I would finally get to tell Keenan the truth. Though as I looked in the mirror something was missing. Giving the gasp I noticed I had forgot to put on mascara. So I quickly applied it and put on some white flats. I picked up a white shoulder bag and slowly went out the window. The place I would meet Keenan at was in town at an old ballet studio,
Town, bright lights and busy streets. Cars passed by me as I passed restaurants and stores. One of the places that I went by was a dancing club. It must have been an 80's nights, because MJ's 'Beat It' was on. Walking down the street it happened.
"Ahhhhhh!" Bang
A blood curdling scream rang through the darkness. Worried that something bad had happened, and being curious, I ran toward the sound. It led me to a dark alleyway. There were two figures at the scary seen. My heart was pumping hard as I saw the one on the ground's bleach blond hair. The hair was being turned to a blood red. As I looked to the figure standing up I saw an outline of something in its hand. That's when it clicked, I gasped and sprinted to the right to slide against the brick wall. I had just witnessed a murder scene, one thought passed through my head. With on wrong move I could be the next one on the list. And that I was.
The murderer's footsteps sounded from the alleyway. Looking aroudn wildly I ran to the next alleyway.
Shit this can't be good!
Looking to the right I saw that the alley wasn't a dead end so I bolted in.
Bang
That person tried to kill me! Adrenaline pumped through my veins as I banked a hard left. Continuing to run I took a sharp turn right.
"Hey watch it- oh Angie its you? What are you doing here?"
I had run right into Keenan, "Didn't you hear it? The gun shot! The gunshot!" Shaking in my own skin I looked into his eyes. He looked away and into the direction I had come from.
"So now he's after you is he?" he seemed surprised.
"Yes and he's right behind me so start running!" Giving a tug to Keenan's wrist we dashed through the alleyways. Of course just our luck we came to a dead end.
"Damn it!" Keenan cursed looking at the wall in front of them. As we looked around we saw boxes and barrels outlined in the dark. Keenan didn't even flinch, "Fuck that! Angie get onto the boxes and climb over, I'll help." He helped me up onto a box. "Climb over Angie, sorry about tonight. I'll have to show you another time." the last thing I saw from that wall was Keenan grabbing a poll and trying to set something up with the boxes. I jumped down but my flats got in the way, I felt my ankle give a twist.
Crashes could be heard on the other side as Keenan jumped over, I looked up clutching my left ankle. Keenan looked down at the way I was sitting, his face cam full of worry, "That's not good." He looked up into the sky, "Well we still have a ways to go. That can only hold him for so long."
"What do y-you mean? What's holding him?"
Keenan gave a satisfied smile, "That old trick of ours really can come in handing. Even if its dangerous..."
"You didn't... i-it could have got you killed. Almost, again," I knew exactly what that meant.
"Well, its the greatest time of need. Don't you think?"
I still couldn't believe what he had done, "I guess so, but how are we going to get any father away? I can't even stand up let alone w-walk?"
Keenan shrugged, "I-I could carry you."
A clang of metal smashed on the floor next to me, the gun. "Ahhhhhh!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
"Shhhh.... It's okay Angie. That means he can't shoot us. Though you need to be quiet, don't need other to find us."
I definitely wasn't convinced, "Y-You sure?"
"Positive?"
Keenan picked me up and carried me in his arms. He walked to the alleyway entrance, though I had made sure the gun was with me just for precautions. As we got to the opening sirens could be heard around us. Quickly I thought of Keenan, and his broken hand he was carrying me with.
Not again... not again.
"Keenan its dark in the back... Please hide back there. You can afford to be caught again," I thought up quickly.
"But they might think you're the murderer. Y-you'd be in Juvy for the rest of your life... maybe death when you're old enough..."
I didn't dare think of the things that could go wrong. Leaving no time to argue I yelled at him, "Go!" Tears welling up in his eyes he slowly put me down and ran to the back. He hid in the corner looking at me his eyes pleaded for me to not sit there, though I turned my head to bright lights in my face.
The head lights beamed at me and I shielded my eyes with my hand. Two officers stepped out of the car to look at me, a teenage girl always causing trouble in the middle of the alleyway. Just sitting there. It happened to be Officer Lilliana and Officer John.
Officer Lilliana has long red hair though it looked jet black under her cap. It was even darker than Officer John's dark brown hair. His almost black eyes starred down at me, sending a shiver down my spine.
"Well, Miss Smith what are you doing out here so late at night? It doesn't help you have a gun next to you...."
Oh crap! I forgot I kept the gun with me!
"Ummm I really don't know. T-truly not sure why."
Officer Lilliana whispered something to Officer John. My eyes widened in horror. And in the end he nodded, "I'm afraid Miss Smith we will need to take you into custody until all this is resolved." Officer John sighed, "Lets put it to you straight. There's been a killing of a young girl across town. Would you know anything about that?"
The scene of the dead girl played in my head and slowly I nodded. I could see blood in the bleach blond hair. Why did this perfect day have to go so horribly wrong?
